A tangerine and a old tin can that was just hanging out in the still life cabinet made for a nice contrast of colors and intensities in this little piece.
This will be a step by step posting of a commission that I am doing for a lawyer in TX. He had commissioned me to do a previous Mr Potato Head piece "Murder in Threes" and this will be the second. The title of it will be "Problem Jury." Oil on panel, 15x14"
This coming month I am introducing a new series of landscapes in oil at The 5th Street Gallery in downtown Cincinnati. They are a bit tighter than anything I've done before. The first two are on the walls now and I'll be adding at least one a week until the end of the year.
This is one of a half dozen pieces that I am doing for a show at the end of October in Philadelphia, at The Artists House Gallery. The piece is titled "Young Love", oil on panel and is 5x7. The cartoon strip was taken from Jim Borgman and Jerry Scott's "Zits."
My wife firmly believes that I have made a deal with the devil or am abusing some strange new drug that gives one mysterious abilities due to the fact that a year ago I really could not push oils to the level that I could my pastels. Recently I decided to give it a go again and SHAZZZAMMM all of my previous hang ups and issues magically (through a signature in blood) disappeared. So here are a few of my in progress oils that I am doing for my upcoming show in Indianapolis. Both of these are 8x10 on panel.
